Web3Auth Breach Exposes Keplr Wallet Keys Across Eight Cosmos Networks

Plus: Grayscale Ranks Ethereum Top Smart Contract Platform, Ripple Joins DFSA Tokenization White Paper
Good Morning Lions,
A third-party key service got breached, and Keplr users across Cosmos paid for it. Self-custody only means something when nobody else touches your keys.. and any wallet leaning on Web3Auth hands part of that job to an outside company. Institutions keep building through a flat week too, frens, with Grayscale and Dubai's tokenization paper pointing at the same tokenized-asset future.
Web3Auth Breach Exposes Keplr Wallets
TL;DR: A November 7 breach at Consensys-owned Web3Auth exposed the private keys of certain Keplr wallets. Bitquery estimates at least $6 million was drained from more than 44,000 wallets across eight Cosmos networks.
Grayscale Ranks Ethereum Top Smart Contract Platform
TL;DR: Grayscale named Ethereum the leading smart contract platform in a November 6 report, ranking it first in stablecoins, tokenized assets and developers. The report put Ethereum's stablecoin supply near $140 billion and its share of tokenized assets at about 40%, per Crypto Briefing.
Ripple Joins DFSA Tokenization White Paper
TL;DR: Ripple contributed to "Scaling Tokenization: The Road Ahead," a white paper commissioned by the Dubai Financial Services Authority. BlackRock, Standard Chartered and Robinhood also contributed to the report.
US Productivity Outpaces Wage Growth
TL;DR: US nonfarm productivity rose 3.6% in Q3 against a 2.9% rise in hourly pay, according to preliminary Bureau of Labor Statistics data cited by CryptoSlate. CryptoSlate's Liam Wright tied the labor cost picture to the interest rate backdrop for Bitcoin.
Central Banks Outbuy Jewelry Buyers in Gold
TL;DR: Central banks bought an estimated 321 tons of gold in Q3 2026, ahead of the 313 tons absorbed by jewelry, according to World Gold Council data reported by CryptoSlate. Total global gold demand reached $188 billion in the quarter on higher prices.
eCash Hard Fork Gives Bitcoin Holders ECX
TL;DR: Paul Sztorc's eCash hard fork used block 973,728 as its cutoff, giving eligible Bitcoin holders an ECX balance equal to their holdings at that block. The token is not yet widely available on larger exchanges, according to Cointelegraph Magazine.
Robocurve Tests AI Models on Robot Arms
TL;DR: Robocurve ran its RoboHarm and RoboSpoof studies on physical robot arms to test how frontier AI models handle hazardous instructions. Models from several labs, including Google and Ai2, rarely refused hazardous tasks, according to Crypto Briefing.
Bitquery's $6M figure is a floor, so the final Keplr loss can only match or exceed it. Until a full post-mortem explains how Web3Auth leaked those keys, every wallet built on that login layer carries an open question 🦁 — Khal
